While having my architecture course, I have taken a subject regarding Food & Culture. As we have to pick a research question for the subject, I took the opportunity to explore more on the japanese cuisine. This blog will serve as my research study outcome, I will emphasize on how does the presentation of food being affected by the design of the restaurant. This blog will also be focus on one Japanese restaurant which is Tomoe Japanese Restuarant.

Tomoe Japanese Restaurant
Located @ SS15 Subang Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. It is one of the high rating japanese restaurant in SS15 area.
The overall design of the Tomoe Japanese restaurant is actuallya traditional japanese restaurant design. They have the same spaces and corner according to what a traditional japanese restaurant should have. For examples, the coffee and tea corner, sushi bar, private room and so on. Tomoe Japanese restaurant consist of three floors. The first floor's is design in a way which like a traditional Japanese restaurant with common japanese architecture materials. While on the second and third floor, they used a more commonly used materials instead of traditional Japanese building materials like the first floor. After Looking at the design and layout of Tomoe Japanese, let us go through their food presentation. Their food presentation are always presented in the traditional Japanese way which when you first arrived, they will provide you a towel to wipe your hand. The presentation of food are presented using Japanese Bowl, plate or cup to present their food and drinks.

All of the food are presented in traditional arrangement of Japanese meal atitude. The food are presented in using japanese type of culinary set such as plates and bowl to present their sushi, main course or even the side dishes. Overall, the food presentation of Tomoe Japanese restaurant is in a linkage to their traditional japanese design which the owner mentioned that he wanted people to actually have their japanese meal on a very japanese atmosphere, just like you are having your Japanese meal on Japanese restaurant in Japan itself.
